FCCLA Qualifies 7 for State
After an exciting day at FCCLA District STAR competition, 7 members qualify for state. FCCLA stands for Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America. It is a student lead career organization focusing on the development of young men and women in today’s society. STAR stands for Students Taking Action through Recognition and is the competitive side of FCCLA. 17 members competed at
District STAR on January 28th in Maxwell. Medals are awarded based off of points received for the completion of their project and the oral presentation with the top performing group or individual qualifying for state. Participants are split into 2 categories- Junior (grades 7-9) and Senior (grades 10-12). Bronze medal winners receive a score between 50-69.9, silver medal winners- 70-89.9 and gold medal winners- 90-100. Bronze medal winners include: Brittany Ellison, Spencer Bloomer, and John Calvin (Entrepreneurship- Junior). Silver medalists: Brittany Trumbull, Sami Stowell, and Noah Edgington (Food Innovations- Senior); Kalie Glendy and Natalie Trumbull (Illustrated Talk- Junior). Gold medalists: Lucy Kimball and Matti Stout (Sports Nutrition- Junior). District Champions that move on to state competition April 12-14 in Lincoln are as follows: Connor Rosfeld (Parliamentary Procedure Test- Junior) Kalen Dockweiler, Dane Rynearson, and Laney Willis (Nebraska Health and Wellness – Junior); Emily Kimball and Hallie Conroy (Life Event Planning – Senior) and Hannah Pearson (Recycle and Redesign – Junior).
